TREASURE HUNT Holiday Programme

There’s treasure in them there hills!

This is not our usual creative holiday programme. Kids will work together to solve our treasure hunt, and then create their own in groups!

Where: Churton Park Community Centre

When: Wednesday 19th April, 1-4pm

Cost: $35 per child

Ages: This programme is most suitable for ages 7-10. Please enquire if you have a child outside this age range who would like to attend.

Parent and Child Workshop – Fundraiser for ADNZ

This parent and child fundraiser workshop is a special opportunity for children and caregivers to attend a creative writing class together.

All proceeds will go to Assistance Dogs New Zealand, to help them in their important work providing dogs to New Zealanders like me, living with disability.

For children ages 8-12 and caregivers aged 16+

Poems From the Churton Park Class

This week the Churton Park Brain Bunny class were learning about writing descriptions, and in particular about using metaphors and similes in poetry. They worked in two groups, and were asked to choose a topic and each write one metaphor or simile on that subject. Then we put the lines together to create two collaborative poems. The groups chose “The Sea” and “The Forest” as their subjects, and here are their poems.

This week the Island Bay Brain Bunny class were learning about poetry – in particular list poems, metaphors and similes. They worked in two groups, and were asked to choose a topic and each write one metaphor or simile on that subject. Then we put the lines together to create two collaborative poems.
