They were asked to come up with a topic as a group and each write one metaphor or simile on that subject. Then we put the lines together to create a collaborative poem. The Karori class chose the subject of &#8220;Death&#8221;, and here is their fantastic poem.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Death<\/h2>\n<p>Death is a stone,<br \/>\nsinking to the bottom<br \/>\nof a dark, forgotten lake.<\/p>\n<p>Death is like a hungry cow,<br \/>\ndevouring grass,<br \/>\nbut instead it eats human lives.<\/p>\n<p>Death is like a wave,<br \/>\nwashing over a family member<br \/>\nin the bubbling sea.<\/p>\n<p>Death is the ghastly face<br \/>\nof a black hole,<br \/>\nsucking brightness out of the world.<\/p>\n<p>Death is like cleaning a toilet<br \/>\ninside a plane about to crash.<\/p>\n<p>Death is like a ladder to the clouds,<br \/>\nyou don&#8217;t know<br \/>\nif you are almost there.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The class then went on to write individual poems, on a range of subjects including &#8220;Laughter&#8221; &#8220;Feelings&#8221; and &#8220;Fun&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Happy Writing!<br \/>\nHelen<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week the Karori Brain Bunny class were learning about poetry &#8211; in particular list poems, metaphors and similes.
