Whether it’s a real place you know well, or an imaginary one you’ve invented yourself, places can be a great inspiration for stories. Over the holidays, you might like to try some of the ideas below:
- If you go somewhere new over the holidays, try making a list of things you notice about the place. Could you use the details you’ve written down in a story or poem?
- Try writing a story set somewhere you’re never been before, like the jungle, Antarctica, or maybe even the moon!
- Try writing a story set somewhere you know really well, like your own school, but have something completely different from normal happening there. Maybe there are zoo animals instead of people inside, or maybe everyone is walking backwards instead of forwards! What crazy ideas can you come up with?
Happy Writing!
