Story Cave

Logo for Story Cave. Picture of a bat with the words Story CaveThis week I got the chance to work with some fantastic kids, mentoring at Story Cave. Story Cave is a pop-up creative writing space for children between the ages of 8-10, inspired by the UK’s Ministry of Stories. Story Cave helps children have fun with words, expand their imagination and creativity and at the end of the workshops, every child takes home their very own published story.

The workshops ran from Monday to Friday, with classes from Kahurangi, Newtown, Berhampore and Corinna Schools coming in to write stories. I was mentoring for the workshops with Kahurangi and Newtown schools, and I was really impressed with all the unique, quirky and clever characters and story ideas that came out of both groups. I met some wonderful kids over the two days I was there, and I have no doubt many of them will go far with their writing.

Meanwhile back here at Brain Bunny headquarters, Brain Bunny holiday programmes will be taking a break in the September/October holidays this year, with our next holiday programme planned for the end of January 2017. I’ll also be announcing plans for 2017 classes in the next couple of months, so please check back here later or contact us to join our mailing list and receive updates as they become available.

In the meantime, here’s a writing prompt to get those creative juices flowing. Write a story based on this image:
