Term One Update

It’s been a busy start to the year, over here at Brain Bunny HQ! In January, I was asked to run a creative writing class for adults at Mix in Lower Hutt. The class was great fun, and I was really impressed with all the creative ideas that came out of it. We also had a fantastic trial class at the Churton Park Community Centre, for children wanting to try out Brain Bunny classes.

Then we were straight into term one with regular afterschool classes in Karori and Churton Park, and we welcomed our new Churton Park tutor, Shona McNeil.

Shona hails originally from Scotland, where she wrote the book for Whisky Galore a Musical! to launch Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s 2009 Homecoming Season. This was so successful, it was brought back in 2011 for their 60th anniversary. She has also written educational and religious plays for BBC Radio Scotland, and currently writes music and lyrics for Little Dog Barking Theatre Wellington, where she is also an award-winning puppeteer.

Shona is a fantastic addition to the Brain Bunny team, and we’re very happy to have her teaching classes.

Coming up in the middle on the 15th March, I have another Writing for Children workshop for adults at the Wellington High School Community Education Centre. If you’ve always wanted to write books for kids, but aren’t sure where to start, this is the course for you!

And finally we’ve got some exciting things in the works for the April school holidays and for term two, which we’ll be announcing very soon!

Happy Writing!
Helen
