When we tell better stories, we create space for change.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more about the challenge and submit your entry by 20 July 2025 on <a href=\"https:\/\/earth4all.life\/creative-challenge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Earth4All&#8217;s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Poetry Box:<\/h4>\n<p>Poetry Box is a New Zealand poetry page for children, teachers, parents,\u00a0and writers and readers of children&#8217;s poetry.\u00a0Poetry Box host several poetry competitions for children, closing at different times throughout the year. <a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/nzpoetrybox.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visit website<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>NZ Poetry Society Competition:<\/h4>\n<p>The New Zealand Poetry Society offer youth competitions for both free verse and haiku. All sections close at the end of May annually. <a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.poetrysociety.org.nz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visit website<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>The Queen&#8217;s Commonwealth Essay Competition<\/h4>\n<p>For young writers aged 18 and under who are citizens or residents of a commonwealth country. Entrants are divided into junior and senior categories and essays for both divisions must be written on one of the given topics. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.royalcwsociety.org\/essay-competition\/qcec2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visit website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Sunday Star Times Short Story Award:<\/h4>\n<p>Secondary school students may enter short stories of up to 3000 words in length into the Secondary Schools Division of the Sunday Star Times Short Story Award. A first prize of $1000 and a work experience day at Random House Publishing is offered. For they&#8217;re contest they\u2019re asking writers ages 13-19 to enter their original, unpublished fiction. They are interested in great short stories of any genre\u2014literary, fantasy, sci-fi, love stories, horror, etc. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.one-story.com\/index.php?page=submit&amp;pubcode=ots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visit Website<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Places to Submit Writing<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h4>Toitoi<\/h4>\n<p>Toitoi publish material from 5-13 year olds with an original and authentic voice that other young people can connect to and be inspired by and that reflects the cultures and experiences of life in New Zealand. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.toitoi.nz\/submit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visit website<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Re-Draft<\/h4>\n<p>Re-Draft offers writers aged 13-19 the chance to be published. Submissions of short stories and poetry will be considered. Submissions close on September 20th annually.
