They worked in two groups, and were asked to choose a topic and each write one metaphor or simile on that subject. Then we put the lines together to create two collaborative poems. The groups chose \u201cThe Sea\u201d and \u201cThe Forest&#8221; as their subjects, and here are their poems.<\/p>\n<h3>The Sea<\/h3>\n<p>The Sea is like an angry storm,<br \/>\nwaking from the deep.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The sea is as blue as my pen.<\/p>\n<p>The sea is a big glob of jelly<br \/>\nwith lots of pieces of fruit<br \/>\nalways moving in it.<\/p>\n<p>The sea is the crystal blue sky<br \/>\nblowing in the wind.<\/p>\n<p>The sea is like a watery, salty freezer.<\/p>\n<p>The sea&#8217;s freezing bony fingers<br \/>\nsweep across the shore,<br \/>\nblindly dragging their victims<br \/>\ninto the sea&#8217;s monstrosity.<\/p>\n<h3>The Forest<\/h3>\n<p>The forest is not just bushes and other plants,<br \/>\nit is as big as Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n<p>The forest is like a cave<br \/>\nthe trees keep you in its endless labyrinth<br \/>\nwith little sunlight to spare.<\/p>\n<p>The forest is a lake<br \/>\nlingering in the sunlight.<\/p>\n<p>The forest is big and easy to get lost in<br \/>\nlike a maze in the dark.<\/p>\n<p>The forest is another dimesion<br \/>\nwith countless things yet to be discovered<br \/>\nand things that will remain untouched<br \/>\nand unknown to all.<\/p>\n<p>The class then went on to write individual poems, on a range of subjects.
